Special Report IV : the Hotel Business in Southern Africa in 2010

Africa has fared relatively well during the economic turmoil during the current recession. In 2010, South Africa is hosting the World Cup in soccer, which will alter the tourism situation throughout the region, if only temporarily.  Our Special Report examines the area’s prospects for dealing with next year’s demand, and for sustaining it beyond 2010.

Our authors and the subjects they are covering:
  • Trevor Ward, Managing Director of W Hospitality Group, is spearheading the supplement and will be contributing his own take on the outlook for hotel group pipelines in the region.  He’ll also take a specific look at the 2010 outlook for Angola and Zimbabwe.

  • Jackie Asheeke of the Federation of Namibian Tourism Associations will give us the viewpoint from another important destination market neighboring South Africa.

  • Johan Gericke of Old Mutual discusses the current and future funding climate for hotels in South Africa and other countries in the region.

  • Ewan Cameron of African Sun addresses specific issues facing the hotel business as a result of next year’s big events.
